How Often Should You Get a Facial? A Skin-Type-Aware Cadence Guide

The right facial frequency depends on your skin type, age and goals. Here's a dermatologist-aligned schedule for oily, dry, sensitive, aging and acne-prone skin.

The 28-day rule

Skin's natural cell-turnover cycle runs roughly every 28 days - slower as you age. Most aestheticians align facials to that cycle, recommending every 4–6 weeks for maintenance regardless of skin type.

By skin concern

Active acne or congestion: every 3 weeks during a reset series of 3–4 sessions, then every 4 weeks. Sensitive or rosacea-prone: every 6–8 weeks with calming, non-extraction protocols. Aging skin (40+): every 4 weeks alternating between resurfacing and hydration. Maintenance / glow: every 4–6 weeks.
